Sam O'Brien;Brett Weston

Brett Weston

Sam O'Brien

I chose to recreate Brett Weston's Century Plant photograph for its simplicity. While scanning through Brett's other photos, I saw that he took both close up and distance landscape shots. When I can across Century Plant, it struck me with its simplicity in the lighting and in the shot overall. I felt i could recreate the image's simplicity and creativity.

to be honest, yours really sucks. whats with the white sky, its way too distracting. look at the tones of gray in his. yours is really boring. get closer to the plant and get a unique feature with a non white or non black tone as the background. it will look 200% better. whats up with the weird black circle in the shadow of your plant? look at how in Brett's photo the whitest tone is in the upper left third and the rest of the plant fills the frame with gray detailed tones with nice dark black contrasted edges. it fades to darker tones on the edges to grab your attention at the detail. yours really sucks and as no creativity. try again.
