I chose to emulate Annie Leibovitz’s photography because I admire
how personal, or impersonal, her portraits are. In my opinion, her
portrait’s depth is noble. The particular photograph I chose to emulate
was one of the performance artist Karen Finley, by photographing a
similar picture in a warmer lighting in shades of browns of my
performance artist friend Peter Woods. I really enjoy her photograph
because of the use of color, and sharpness, and not because of the booty.
The natural lighting also gives a surreal glow to the seclusion of
Karen Finley facing the back of the chair. - Ella Schwartz
